Christie in bloom

As I mentioned in a previous post, our Mexican Plum Tree is in full bloom.  You may recall that back in March of last year, we planted the tree in memory of Christie, a childhood friend of mine who had passed way a few days earlier. So, as you can imagine, the survival of the tree is pretty important to both Jack and I.

There was a long period of time where it seemed that, in spite of Jack's best efforts, it would not survive.  Then, back in October, we noticed some new growth; it wasn't much, but it it was enough that we were hopeful "Christie" would survive the winter months and that we would be lucky enough to witness her bloom in the Spring.

Well, it isn't Spring yet, but Christie's been in bloom for about two weeks now.  We are thrilled!  It's very gratifying to see our efforts to show respect and continued life in Christie's name succeeding.

I've already shared this one, but I'm sharing it again with the rest of the pictures because it's my favorite.

It's Spring break week here. Yippie!!  Madi's out of school, Jack is taking time off from work and the weatherman is predicting very nice weather all week.  So, I'm pretty sure we're going to have a fantastic Spring break!  We hope your week is fantastic also!
